I have been vegetarian for most of my life and Evie has been for all of hers. I really don’t miss eating meat, but I do miss marshmallows! Fortunately, there are some really good vegetarian options out there.
My favorite are Sweet & Sara’s vanilla marshmallows. They are out of this world! But, when you don’t want to drop the money to have your marshmallows shipped to you from New York, Dandies are a good alternative.
Since our s’more making session was pretty sporadic, we picked up a couple of packs at the super market. Both Dandies and Sweet & Sara marshmallows melt similarly to-as Evie calls them-“meatmallows.” So either sort would work quite nicely for s’mores.
Of course you’ll need chocolate bars and graham crackers as well. A fire is also useful. I’ve seen someone use a gas burner once, however, cleaning that up likely killed any residual joy from the s’mores-making. We have a fire pit in our back garden that does the trick.

As you can see, we actually bought sticks for making s’mores. Yes, it’s a bit ridiculous, but likely much more sanitary than a stick off of the sidewalk (have you ever tried to wash a stick?).
Here’s how our s’more-making went!
Want to try it so badly😣😣
