So it’s been awhile and I wanted to write a thing that wasn’t for work.

Hi there. I’m not sure who exactly will be reading this, but whoever you are, welcome! I used to blog more than I do now. It’s not that I don’t enjoy it anymore, but sometimes it’s hard knowing what to write or how much to divulge. Ha ha, that makes me sound like a spy or something—I’m not a spy, or anything that interesting. Just a person, stuck inside, like lots of others these days.

Some things that have kept me sane-ish during the quarantine: learning to sew, going to the beach, my dog, and the fact that I enjoy working from home. We also bought a 6 foot trampoline for the upstairs living room/den right before COVID hit the fan. It was surprisingly not a terrible decision.

Ludo chilling in the backyard jungle when it wasn’t freezing out.
Me when one summer day when I was motivated enough to do my hair.

I just updated my phone and iPad, for the first time in years. Not because I could really afford it, more because I’m on these devices more than I’m off. I don’t even walk my dog without taking my phone most of the time (I blame podcasts and audiobooks). I’m writing this on my new iPad Pro which isn’t half bad. The old one (which I’m still using) was the original pro (2015) 12.9 inch. It’s a great device but really too big to tote around comfortably, or even fit comfortably next to my computer or laptop while working. I’m enjoying the much more portable 11 inch model, even though I’m not going anywhere with it.

The new iPhone was less practical but fun, anyway. The 12 Pro Max isn’t very different from the XS Max that I had before. The thing is though, I have the phone but the case I bought from Casetify has yet to ship. I’ve already dropped it a few times despite trying to be careful. I really hope I don’t end up doing this expensive gadget in.

Looking less than motivated last Sunday.

I haven’t completely given up on makeup but have not been wearing it every day like before quarantine. I can’t say my skin is glowing or anything because of this alteration in morning routine. But it’s less time and money. Especially since I overhauled my collection this spring with “green” makeup products. Hopefully my neighbours don’t think I’ve joined a religious cult or something now that I’ve been makeup free and wearing homemade dresses. I kinda look like I could be in the case of Big Love some days.

I know this photo has shitty lighting and I didn’t edit it. Oh well. I made the dress!

My dresses are nearly all inspired by Christy Dawn. I fell hard for this brand in the early days of working from home/quarantine and gave them way too much of my pay checks. Then I decided I could probably learn to make the same dresses myself. I ordered a sewing machine from Amazon and voila! This one is very similar to their $218 Bianca dress. I’m wearing one in a different fabric today. They are super comfy (the belt is of course removable). These dresses were pretty much my summer staple. Now that it’s colder out, I’m having less success making them work. Christy Dawn is based in Southern California, so they don’t have this problem.

Oh, and I’ve been playing Animal Crossing, like everyone and their Mother (I’ve never used that expression in real life). I was playing it more in the early days of the pandemic, but still pick it up now and again. I don’t have loads of time between work and homeschooling (not homeschooling on purpose), but it’s a nice to talk to cheerful animals and fish for sea bass once in awhile when I’m completely overwhelmed.

Shih Tzus enjoy trampolines. In case you were wondering.

Well that’s all for now. It’s really more than I had planned to write. Keep on keeping on and I will too. 👩‍💻
